Used Microscopes
Buying a used microscope is one way to benefit from the exploratory
power of a microscope at a price that doesn’t break
the bank. The nature of microscope use dictates that they
are kept in clean and safe environments, and don’t suffer
very much wear and tear. Furthermore, technology for home
microscopes doesn’t change very much. Sure, Harvard
might be working with a brand new electron scope that can
see individual atoms, but most of us can’t afford one
of those or fit it in our house. The 40-120 power microscope
you buy at the store operates on the same basic principles
and technology that the original light microscope did. So
there really is no difference in getting a microscope from
the 1960s versus a more current one, except different haircuts
and colours in the instruction manual.
The Blister Microscope is a product that typifies both the
durability of microscopes and the salience of light microscope
technology. Blister Microscope is constructed of all stainless
steel parts, so even the most careless little scientist peering
at rocks, onion cells and pond water won’t be able to
destroy her scope with a spilled juice box. And despite the
fact that Blister Microscope is over thirty? years old, the
company still sells the same exact product, a testament to
the lasting value of low power microscope technology. Your
Blister Microscope won’t be outdated by a new model
next year, or probably not even in the next decade.
If you buy a used Blister Microscope, you can be assured that
the scope is likely in good condition and that the technology
is certainly not outdated. Likewise, the same qualities that
make a used scope a safe buy make a new one an equally good
investment. If for whatever reason you don’t need a
microscope five or ten years down the road (or you are upgrading
to an electron microscope) you can sell it to someone who
can make better use of it at a fair price.
